Devotion and Prayer for Week of October 20, 2013

Meditation for the week of October 20, 2013

For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.         Romans 8:38-39

Nothing can separate you from God’s love for you.

Your sins can’t separate you from God’s love, for they are forgiven by Jesus.

The devil can’t separate you from God’s love, for he is defeated and toothless through the empty tomb of Jesus’ resurrection.

Your health cannot separate you from God’s love, for God loves you the same whether you’re healthy or ill.

Angels cannot separate you from God’s love; they are servants of our God who work for your good.

The government cannot separate you from God’s love.  They can outlaw behavior but they cannot take away the fact that Jesus died and rose again, that your sins are forgiven, and that you have Christ living in your heart.

Society cannot separate you from God’s love.  The world will always move away from God’s truth, but you have been called to live in the world, yet apart from the world.  Through Jesus, your citizenship is in heaven.

Tomorrow cannot separate you from God’s love.  Jesus is already there to forgive you, protect you, defend you, and keep you steadfast in God’s love.

Can death separate you from God’s love?  It cannot, for the souls of the saints are in the protective care of Jesus.  Jesus continues to love, protect, and defend the souls of the saints until the day of the great resurrection.  On that day, Jesus (who rose from death, lives eternally, and grants eternal life to all who believe in him) will raise you from death—because he loves you—and you will live in his love eternally.

Nothing, nothing, nothing will ever be able to separate you from your loving, forgiving God in heaven.

Lord Jesus, though You are exalted at the Father’s right hand, you still abide with us in love.

Our Weekly Prayer

From your throne in heaven, you shower us with your love and pour your forgiveness out upon us.  You assure us that, no matter what may happen, you promise to live with us now and forever.  We thank you for your love and for the one thing that remains constant in a changing world.  Amen.
